CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A teenager was seriously injured in a shooting in Chesapeake on Wednesday afternoon, prompting a police response and a search for two male suspects who reportedly fled the area on foot.
According to the Chesapeake Police Department, officers responded at approximately 4:27 p.m. on Sept. 23 to a reported shooting in the 1600 block of Summerall Lane.
Police said the shooting followed a dispute outside a housing unit. When officers arrived, they found that a teenager had sustained serious injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Police Search for Two Suspects
Investigators are searching for two male suspects believed to have left the area on foot following the shooting.
Police described one suspect as a light-skinned Black male. The second suspect was described as a Black male. Authorities said no additional suspect descriptions were immediately available.
Shelter-in-Place Notification Lifted
As officers investigated the shooting and searched the surrounding area, Chesapeake police issued a shelter-in-place notification to nearby residents.
The notification has since been lifted, according to police.
Authorities have not released additional information about what led to the dispute or identified the victim publicly.
